Mayor Ledford Issued the Following Statement Regarding Passing of Congressman Don Young:

“The City of Wasilla is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Congressman Don Young; the longest serving member of the current Congress, Dean of the House, most senior member of the House of Natural Resources Committee, and leader of the Subcommittee for Indigenous Peoples of the United States.

“I have deeply valued Congressman Young’s leadership, friendship, and service to our state and community. Congressman Don Young’s greatness shines through his accomplishments for Alaska and living in service to others.

“The City extends our deepest condolences to his wife, family, and friends during this difficult time. Congressman Young’s legacy will live on through his loved ones, work, and achievements.”
