Ame has been adoptedAme A129102 is a 3 year old spayed female available for adoption!10/26/22 Ames and Fae were surrendered to the shelter due to urinating outside of their litterbox in their prior home. They were in that home for 2 months, but the original owner did state that both these girls had consistently used their box leading up to that point. Ames and Fae were said to be sisters and were bonded. Initially when arriving at the shelter, Ames was picking on Fae so they were separated for a few days but are now cohabitating happily. Thanks to The Shelter Fund, both girls were seen by a vet and had lab work done to make sure their house soiling was not due to an underlying infection. The vet did not find anything abnormal which means that they were likely stressed from moving to a new home. The vet recommended feeding canned food, a water fountain and in general lowering stress as much as possible in a new home to encourage water intake. They have both been using their box while at the shelter. If future litter box problems arise, their new owners are encouraged to visit their veterinarian to discuss strategies for reducing stress. Ames is the more social of the two and actively seeks out attention whereas Fae is also very sweet but a bit more reserved. We are not requiring that these girls be adopted together but if you are looking for a pair, they might still enjoy each other’s company out of the shelter environment. If you are interested in meeting Ames or Fae please give the shelter a call!
