Head’s up! The temperature has increased 40 deg F in the past 48 hours. Rapid warming in a RED FLAG for avalanche danger. This inversion has rapidly shifted avalanche conditions and will increase the likelihood of triggering an avalanche. Temperatures have risen dramatically above 2500’ since March 5th with temps hovering above freezing at 2700’ and barely freezing overnight up to 4500’. Daytime temperatures reached a high of 41 deg F today at 4500’.
We have received reports of large natural dry loose and slab avalanches on southerly aspects in the last 24 hours. The inversion is expected to last through Tuesday. Please AVOID ALL SOUTHERLY ASPECTS. Use caution as CORNICES will be unpredictable and may break further back than anticipated.
Thanks Chuck, for sending us the video!
