Matanuska-Susitna Borough ranked 17th among counties in Alaska by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Matanuska-Susitna Borough residents was $29,375 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 30,879 households with a population of 103,464.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was North Slope Borough with $50,084 per year after adjusting for inflation – $20,709 more than Matanuska-Susitna Borough. It had 1,966 households with a population of 9,797.

The county with the lowest median resident income in the state was Northwest Arctic Borough with $18,781 per year after adjusting for inflation – $10,594 less than Matanuska-Susitna Borough. It had 1,860 households with a population of 7,734.
