Matanuska-Susitna Borough ranked 17th among counties in Alaska by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Matanuska-Susitna Borough residents was $29,828 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 31,217 households with a population of 105,369.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was North Slope Borough with $51,525 per year after adjusting for inflation – $21,697 more than Matanuska-Susitna Borough. It had 1,979 households with a population of 9,792.

The county with the lowest median resident income in the state was Northwest Arctic Borough with $18,986 per year after adjusting for inflation – $10,842 less than Matanuska-Susitna Borough. It had 1,795 households with a population of 7,715.
